Skopje Creative Hub 2014 New content in public space
This is a book about a collective experience! It is about laying the foundations of an on-going collaboration that goes beyond any presupposed institutional frame. Our role here is more a curatorial one rather than administrative. The statements and projects here came to be through the challenging and productive discussions with the tutors, professors, students, and supporters of the Skopje Creative Hub 2014. We revisited the universal and somewhat out-dated concepts of creative city and creative festival but grounded them firmly in the specificities of the local context and invigorated them with the idea of active citizenship. The work here is realized by a group of young people who want to engage with this city in a creative and artistic way. Skopje is ready to chart a new trajectory, one that reconnects with its citizens. Towards an engaging and creative Skopje!
SCH2014 was an international ten day project-based initiative for activating public space in Skopje. SCH was a creative festival consisted of workshops, discussions and a parallel program designed to promote critical thinking and encourage a dialogue about public space through a creative collaboration between professionals and students, both domestic and international. It was organized and curated by City Creative Network (CCN) Skopje and was held in September 2014 at the Youth Cultural Centre (MKC) Skopje.
